Hendricks Announces Volleyball Signings

Dec. 4, 2007

DENVER, COLO. - Metro State has recently signed Julie Causseaux, Emily Greenhalgh, Anna Mapes, Adrienne Matthews, Bri Morley, Kendra Schauermann and Darcy Schwartzmann to compete for the Roadrunners beginning with the 2008-09 school year, volleyball head coach Debbie Hendricks announced.

Five players are from Colorado, while Mapes previously played at the University of Mississippi and Schauermann played at Western Nebraska Community College.

"This is probably the most athletic group we have ever brought into Metro State," said Hendricks. "We are very excited to have Kendra (Schauermann) and Anna (Mapes) begin training with us in the spring. Both players bring a lot of high-level experience. Our incoming freshmen are very athletic and should immediately challenge for playing time."

Causseaux, a 5-foot-10 middle blocker, earned 4A State Most Valuable Player honors after helping Dumas (Texas) High School to the state title as a 2006 junior, and also earned all-state honors as a 2007 senior.

Greenhalgh, a 6-foot outside hitter, was a four-year varsity player for Conifer (Colo.) High School. A three time all-Jefferson County League performer, she earned league most valuable player and first team all-4A state honors as a 2007 senior. Greenhalgh plays for the COVOCO 18-1 club team.

Mapes, a 5-foot-11 middle blocker, returns to the court after a long layoff as she last played during the 1996 and 1997 seasons for the University of Mississippi. Most recently, she served as an assistant coach at RMAC member Fort Lewis during the 2005 and 2006 seasons. She posted a .298 career hitting percentage at Mississippi. A native of Chaska, Minn., Mapes led Chaska High School to the 1996 Minnesota state title.

Matthews, a 5-foot-11 middle blocker, was an all-state honoree while a 2007 senior at University High School in Greeley, Colo. A two-time all-Patriot League West selection, she was also an all-state Academic pick as a 2007 senior. Matthews plays for the NORCO 18-1 club team.

Morley, a 5-foot-9 outside hitter, helped Cherokee Trail High School to its first-ever state tournament. A native of Parker, Colo., she earned Skyline Conference Most Valuable Player and all-state honors as a 2006 junior and a 2007 senior. Morley plays for the Colorado Performance 18-1 club team.

Schauermann, a 5-foot-7 defensive specialist, was part of Western Nebraska's national junior college championship team in 2007. She also helped Windsor (Neb.) High School reach the state tournament three times and was an honorable mention all-state performer.

Schwartzmann, a 5-foot-8 setter, helped Eaglecrest High School to two state championship matches, including the state title as a 2006 junior. A native of Aurora, Colo., she was a three-time all-Centennial League player and a second team all-state performer as a 2007 senior. Schwartzmann plays for the Colorado Performance 18-1 club team.

Metro State, which finished the 2007 season with a 16-15 record, advanced to its eighth consecutive NCAA Tournament.
