Metro State Is No. 6 Seed In NCAA Southwest Region Tournament

DENVER, COLO. -- Metro State (15-14) is the No. 6 seed and plays No. 3-seed UC-Colorado Springs (20-11) in the opening round of the NCAA Southwest Region Volleyball Tournament, Nov. 16 at noon in Kearney, Neb.

Metro State faces UC-Colorado Springs for the third time this season. The two teams have split two meetings earlier this year, with the Roadrunners winning in a sweep, Sept. 21 in Denver, and the Mountain Lions winning a five-game battle, Oct. 20 in Colorado Springs. This is Metro State's eighth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament.

All first-round matches are Friday, Nov. 16. Nebraska-Kearney (31-4) is the top seed and the host team. The Lopers face No. 8-seed Mesa State (15-13) at 7:30 p.m. No. 4-seed Central Oklahoma (31-6) takes on No. 5-seed Fort Lewis (21-7) at 5 p.m., while No. 2-seed West Texas A&M (32-7) plays No. 7-seed Midwestern State (27-5) at 2:30 p.m.

The winner of No. 2/7 faces the winner of the Metro State-UC-Colorado Springs match, Nov. 17 at 5 p.m., while the No. 1/8 winner plays the No. 4-5 winner at 7:30 p.m. The regional championship is Sunday, Nov. 18 at 3 p.m.

Nebraska-Kearney begins selling tournament passes Tuesday. Adults are $22, while seniors and children are $15. Single-session tickets go on sale Friday and are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and children and $4 for college students with ID. The Loper ticket office can be reached at 308-865-1563.

The NCAA Tournament is a 64-team tournament with eight teams from each of the eight regions. The regional winners advance to the quarterfinals, Nov. 29.
