Roadrunners Defeat CSU-Pueblo At RMAC Tournament, 13-5

ARVADA, COLO. -- No. 3-seed Metro State defeated No. 6-seed CSU-Pueblo, 13-5, in the first round of the RMAC Softball Tournament, Friday morning at Long Lake Ranch Park.

Metro State faces Nebraska-Kearney, which defeated Adams State, Friday at 4:30 p.m.

The Roadrunners scored five runs in the third and six more in the fifth to break it open. Ashley Johnson went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two home runs, while Sarah Rusch was 3-for-4 with four RBI and a home run. Nicole Lyles added three hits.

Rusch and Johnson each homered in the third, including a two-run shot by Rusch. Metro State scored all six of its runs in the fifth with two out after the first two batters in the inning struck out.

Jessica Fisher got the win for the Roadrunners, throwing all five innings and allowing nine hits, while striking out four. Joelle Rofrano went 1-for-3 with two RBI for the ThunderWolves.

With the win, Metro State improves to 31-16 overall, while CSU-Pueblo falls to 27-23 overall.
