Zollner Earns ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Honors
Nov. 20, 2007
DENVER, COLO. - Metro State goalkeeper Rachel Zollner was named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic all-America women's soccer first team, the committee announced Tuesday. This is the second consecutive season Zollner has earned Academic all-America honors. She was the lone representative from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Three teams were selected for both the college and university divisions. Zollner has a 3.83 grade point average in mathematics and was one of 12 student-athletes selected to the first team. Zollner, the RMAC Defensive Player of the Year, leaves Metro State as the career leader in wins (56) and shutouts (36). Zollner and teammate Jessica Brown were named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic all-district teams earlier this month. Members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) voted on the all-district teams, while the national committee selected the all-America teams. Metro State won the RMAC regular-season championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2007. 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Teams |
