Phillip Owen Named ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America
Nov. 19, 2007
DENVER, COLO. - Metro State senior forward Phillip Owen was named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic all-America men's soccer third team, the committee announced Monday. There are three Academic all-America teams for the college division with 11 student-athletes named to each team. Owen was the only Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference representative on the all-America team. Owen has a 3.48 grade point average in integrated therapeutic practices. He leaves Metro State as the program's all-time leader in goals scored (53) and points (132). He also ranks second in assists (26). Owen and teammate Ryan Vickery were named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic all-district first team earlier this month. Members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) voted on the all-district teams, while the national committee selected the all-America teams. Metro State made its second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2007.
