COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. - Metro State junior forward Jesse Wagstaff was named all-East Division first team, as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced its men's basketball awards Wednesday afternoon.
Guards Marquise Carrington and Terrell Burgess were named all-East Division second team.
Wagstaff leads the Roadrunners in both scoring (14.8 ppg) and rebounding (6.3 rpg). An ESPN The Magazine Academic all-America, Wagstaff earned RMAC Academic Player of the Year honors earlier this season. Carrington ranks fifth in the RMAC in assists (3.89 apg), while Burgess ranks seventh in the league in steals (1.62 spg) and ninth in assists (3.28 apg).
Brian Stamer of Colorado Christian was the league's Player of the Year, while Garrett Lever of Nebraska-Kearney earned both Defensive and Freshman of the Year honors. The Cougars' David Daniels was named Coach of the Year.
Stamer, Nebraska-Kearney's Drake Beranek, Fort Lewis' Devon Manning, Tim Crowell of Fort Lewis and Rece Hampton of Adams State were named all-RMAC. Stamer, Beranek, Wagstaff, Kyle Pape of Colorado School of Mines and Regis' Geremey Gibson were named all-East Division first team.
Metro State, 19-11 overall, is the No. 6 seed in the RMAC Tournament and is at No. 3-seed Colorado Christian in a first-round game, Feb. 29 at 6 p.m.
