Calvin Tang begins his first season as an assistant coach at Metro State in 2007-08. Tang is responsible for working with the post players, and also assists with recruiting, statistics, player nutrition, transportation and the strength and conditioning program. Prior to coming to Metro State, Tang served as an assistant basketball coach at Sierra (Calif.) College for five years. While at Sierra, Tang assisted with planning practices, scheduling, travel and scouting, and also designed the strength and conditioning program. Sierra College made two consecutive NorCal playoff appearances during his tenure. Tang played at Sierra College, where he earned Student-Athlete of the Year honors in 2002. He also prepped at Arlington (Calif.) High School, where he was named Riverside County Defensive Player of the Year in 2000. Tang earned an associate's degree from Sierra College in May 2002, before earning his bachelor's degree in social science from California State University, Sacramento in May 2007. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in kinesiology. |
