Metro State Wins Important Game One

March 15, 2008

Metro State hosted Mesa State in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game Friday afternoon at Auraria Field. This was the start to a great four game series as both teams were 8-0 in the RMAC to start the game.

The Roadrunners got down early in the bottom of the second when designated hitter Matt Miller hit a three run homerun to deep left.

Metro State would not let this lead last for long, though. In the bottom half of the fourth with one out and the bases loaded the number nine hitter, Matt McConnel, hit a bases clearing single when the Mavericks' left fielder couldn't handle the ball. This put Metro State up 4-3 and they wouldn't lose the lead as they went on to win the game 10-7.

Starting catcher Reece Gorman had a field day at the plate going four for five with two doubles and three RBIs.

With the win Metro State is now 17-4 overall, 9-0 in the RMAC, while Mesa State falls to 17-7 overall, 8-1 in the RMAC.
