Luna Wins 800m at Tom Benich Invitational

April 7, 2008

Sophomore Anthony Luna posted the fastest time in NCAA Division II this season, winning the 800m in 1:51.02 at the Tom Benich Invitational hosted by the University of Northern Colorado, this weekend.

Luna's time of 1:51.02 was a personal best and a NCAA provisional qualifying mark. He out sprinted Mark Husted of Colroado School of Mines to win the event.

Other highlights of the meet were a second-place finish from Rick Bogatay in the 1500 meter and Chelesa Rutter and Jessica Jenkins placing sixth and seventh in the 800 meter.

The track team will compete this Saturday at the CU Invitational in Boulder.
