Sean Nesbitt begins his fourth season as the assistant cross country coach, as well as his third season as the assistant track coach at Metro State in 2008-09. Nesbitt assists with all aspects of the cross country and track programs. A native of Oregon, Nesbitt moved to Boulder, Colo., in 2000 to pursue his running career. He has run at the United States Cross Country National Championships four times, finishing as high as 23rd in 2003. He also competed at the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials in the marathon. Nesbitt was a four-year letterwinner in track and cross country at Eastern Oregon University. He was a three-time all-American in cross country and an all-American in the 10,000 meters. Nesbitt was a two-time Cascade Athletic Conference cross country champion and a three-time conference champion in the 5,000 meters. He was also named the 1996 Eastern Oregon University male athlete of the year. A three-time academic all-American, Nesbitt earned a bachelor's degree in history in 1997. Prior to coming to Metro State, Nesbitt worked for Spectrum Mapping in Denver as a GIS specialist. In addition to his coaching duties, Nesbitt serves as a facilities planner at Metro State. Sean and his wife, Becky, a former college runner, reside in Denver with their son. |
